Clean Drinking Water

Methodology: Engineering Design Process

ALTERNATIVE DESIGN METHODOLOGY TO SPEED UP THE CONSTRUCTION:

Options Approach:

EXAMPLE OF CLUSTER DEFINITION FOR SAFDARABAD TEHSIL: 3 and 5 km radius buffers

First Option SINGLE SCHEMES: Haripur example:

COMPOSITE SCHEMES: connected villages to form a bigger cluster

CLUSTER SCHEMES: The preliminary water network allignements: Lahore City north

NETWORK DEFINITION: The following image illustrates the aerial photo for Cluster 01 and Cluster 02

NETWORK DEFINITION: The following image shows the water distribution layout for Cluster 01

NETWORK DEFINITION: hydraulics calculations : Once the network has been defined the hydraulic calculation stage starts

NETWORK DEFINITION: The following image shows the water distribution layout for Cluster 02

Considerations on source location

The following image shows the location of source B near the Aligarh Public School & College property.

This location is chosen according to altitude, water quality data (provided by PSPC and by the survey) and future urban evolution considerations.

In fact this area is ment to be safe from sprawl evolution that might affect water quality in next decades.

The College property will ensure a minimum quantity of open green spaces that guarantees water quality avoiding pollution due to percolation through high permeable soils.

Alternative ways of disinfection for water distribution network

Alternative ways of disinfection for water distribution network : The chlorine disinfection is equipped with a metering pump as shown. A small pump is required to inflow chlorine in the network.
